A Letter from the Secretary-General

NAMUN 2025

Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors and Guests,

It is my distinct honour to invite you to the 40th iteration of the North American Model United Nations. Founded in 1985, NAMUN is among Canada's oldest and most prestigious university-level conferences, bringing together hundreds of delegates from around the world annually, at the University of Toronto. This year, NAMUN will be held from February 20-22, 2025. On behalf of the Secretariat, we are thrilled to have you be a part of this significant milestone in our history. 

This year, our Academics team is excited to provide a rich blend of both old and new. Our General Assemblies and Specialized Agencies aim to challenge delegates to engage deeply and think critically via a broad range of topics, alongside the much anticipated reintroduction of the International Court of Justice. For those seeking a more dynamic experience, our Crisis Committees push the boundaries of traditional diplomacy, offering fast-paced and innovative scenarios that demand quick thinking and strategic decision-making. 

Operationally, we are building on the momentum from previous years, aiming to provide even more opportunities for networking and camaraderie. Our team has worked tirelessly to organize the venue, catering and logistics of the conference as we aspire to elevate the overall delegate experience. Furthermore, the work produced by our External Affairs team has been pivotal in reaching new regions and audiences, ensuring that NAMUN continues to grow and thrive.

At NAMUN, we are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. Our revised policies and Code of Conduct reflect our dedication to creating a safe, meaningful, and compassionate space for all participants. We believe that every delegate and staff member should feel respected and valued, and we have implemented comprehensive measures to ensure this standard is upheld throughout the conference.
